What Memoryter does
Memoryter interviews someone about their life, in conversation, and writes what they said into a book. The interviewer and the writing are done by AI. A person from your family reviews and approves every chapter before it becomes part of the book.
Permission to record
When you set up a story you confirm you have the storyteller’s permission to record your conversations and turn them into a book. That permission is yours to obtain, and it matters more than anything else on this page.
The story is yours
The recordings, transcripts, and the book belong to your family. We claim no ownership of them and will not publish, share, or sell them. You can download everything at any time.
What AI gets wrong
The chapters are written from what was actually said, with quotations drawn from the recordings, and background research is marked as such. It is still AI writing: it can get details wrong. That is why a person approves each chapter. Read them.
Paying
A story is a one-time purchase, paid once, with no subscription. A story you buy as a gift can be claimed by the person you name. Deleting a story does not refund it, and does not entitle you to a replacement.
While Memoryter is in beta
Memoryter is early software run by a very small team. Things can break. We keep backups and we take your family’s stories seriously, but we cannot promise the service is uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copy — the download button is there for exactly this.
Ending it
Delete your story whenever you like. We may close an account that abuses the service, and will give you your data if we do.
